The 2024 report (in German) of the German NGO network “International Advocacy Netzwerke” (IAN) – of which the AMP is a member organization – gives an overview of the human rights situation in 16 countries, including the Philippines.
The human rights situation in the Philippines remains worrying despite the change of government in June 2022: extrajudicial killings in the context of the so-called “war on drugs” and attacks on human rights defenders and journalists continue. The government is increasingly restricting democratic and civic space, particularly by using the judicial system to politically persecute activists.
