Attacks, vilifications, criminalization, and violence against human rights defenders (HRDs) in the Philippines are continuing under the new administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Accessing protection measures for HRDs are gaining more importance.
Against this backdrop, the German Action Network Human Rights Philippines (Aktionsbündnis Menschenrechte Philippinen/AMP) organizes the online workshop “Threat situation of HRDs in the Philippines” on June 13, 2023, 8-11am CEST/ 2-5pm PHST.
The workshop will allow participants to exchange on current threat situations of HRDs – especially in the provincial areas – in the Philippines, how to respond to them using international advocacy strategies, and what safeguards are available, accessible, and needed.
We invite representatives from human rights organizations and human rights defenders from the Philippines and worldwide advocating rights in various sectors to join the workshop. Human rights sectors include – among others – civil and political rights, labor rights, indigenous rights, women’s rights, child rights, LGBTIQ-rights, as well as the rights to food, a healthy environment and safe climate, water, land, adequate housing, health, and education.
The workshop will be held in English and the Chatham House Rule applies.
