{"id":9458,"date":"2024-05-17T01:00:52","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T00:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amp.ngo\/?p=9458"},"modified":"2024-05-16T15:27:06","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T14:27:06","slug":"senator-trillanes-icc-spoke-to-50-police-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amp.ngo\/en\/senator-trillanes-icc-spoke-to-50-police-officers\/","title":{"rendered":"Trillanes: ICC spoke to 50 police officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 24, 2024, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnation.inquirer.net\/233142\/fwd-trillanes-on-icc-contacted-50-past-present-pnp-officials-on-duterte-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that over 50 active and former Philippine National Police (PNP) officers have been contacted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for their involvement in possible crimes against humanity in the context of ex-President Duterte\u2019s so-called \u201cwar on drugs.\u201d Trillanes <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnation.inquirer.net\/233142\/fwd-trillanes-on-icc-contacted-50-past-present-pnp-officials-on-duterte-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emphasized<\/a> that this meant, officers would be considered co-suspects if they did not cooperate with the investigators.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Justice Secretary Mico Calavano <a href=\"https:\/\/qa.philstar.com\/headlines\/2024\/04\/25\/2350419\/doj-law-enforcement-govt-execs-assisting-icc-probe-be-held-accountable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> on April 25, 2024, that those officials who \u201ccooperate\u201d in the ICC investigation could face administrative action or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onenews.ph\/articles\/doj-pnp-warn-versus-cooperation-with-icc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suspension<\/a> from duty.
